“Do not show but reveal…”
The context specificities define an action, a site operation, a transformation of the environment.
The study on the singular dimension of the operation makes it possible to understand the stakes of architecture and to direct the preliminary identities.
The question of the direction finds an answer only compared to what surrounds it. Considering what is “already there” as a material to make, in order to settle in a continuity of what is before and after. This dual relationship between a pre-existent substance and the one added engages in self-transformation. This modification does not consist in replacing, but to learn to live alongside side, to interact. To fall under this relational logic makes it possible to reveal the poetics of reality.
This relation generates a complex relationship. Between shade, gravity and time, intensities circulate…
The complexity generated between these elements results in strengths. It will be a question of finding the right tension between light, material and space.
The projects that we present, assigned to “places”, are carried out by a same approach: a search for landscape outlines, in order to find the building position and orientation, to determine scales connections and the perception limits.
This action challenges rational geometry, with a directional breaking-off in order to direct the project in its context. By a modification of orthogonality, they adopt a contextual position.
By changing his point of view, one loses what he can apprehend from the building shape, in order to discover its own situation, a side of the building that responds to its environment.
To break an orthogonal geometry by only one typological change of orientation, it is to offer a room for manoeuvre, it is to create the conditions for the appearance of what is latent… Which is not given to be apparent.
